Mat & Kat's big bike trip
Day 48 Split
Mat: We're in Split for a few days now to catch up on work, explore the beautiful old city and have a rest! We're both quite exhausted from the heat of the last few days. We have a lovely little apartment with a cute garden.
In addition to this, this afternoon I had a small surgical procedure on a cyst that developed on the back of my thigh. It's been pressing against the saddle for a little while and got quite uncomfortable.
The surgery only took 45 mins, no pain at all. The surgeon was super friendly.
We spent most of the time talking about cycle touring and the merits of seawater as an effective way to wash the wound and promote healing. He prescribed swimming in the sea every day for a few weeks to help it heal. That's my kind of doctor!
Instead of removing the cyst, he suggested draining it, keeping it open to let it drain some more, and then just keeping an eye on it.
I've got a follow-up appointment in two days, he said I should be good to cycle after the weekend.
In the evening we played a really fun Diocletian-themed escape room and got out with mere seconds to spare.
