Mat & Kat's big bike trip

Day 5 Sitges

📅 Tuesday 14 April 2026 🚴 94 km 📍 Spain
Sitges
It was still very windy when we woke up, but we left it behind pretty quickly, and followed a lovely cycle path along the beach for 20km through Cambrils and Salou. We rode past the entrance to PortAventura, which was heaving with people. After that we joined the N340, a super straight highway right into the middle of Tarragona. We rode down to the marina for a snack and a drink. It's beautiful sunshine today and everything is marvellous. From Tarragona the EV8 took some weird turns, so we stayed on our old friend the N340 for another 30km. We passed our first UNESCO world heritage site of the trip, a first century Roman arch. Even on the bigger roads, Spanish drivers are very courteous towards us, giving us plenty of room and generally being lovely. We eventually reached the pretty little seaside town of Coma-Ruga, where we picked up some salad for lunch and bathed in the glorious spring afternoon. The final route to Sitges was nice, along beach paths, small roads and a nature reserve. We got into Sitges about 17:00 and found our accommodation for the next few days. We're taking a day off cycling to work tomorrow.
