Kat & Mat's big bike trip
Day 28 Ferrara
The washing machine saga from yesterday is concluded!
We contacted the host and he came over with his mum last night. Between them they figured out how to open the washing machine after about 45 minutes, well done them! Then his mum insisted on hanging out our washing even though it was still soaking wet and dirty - I could feel the clothes wash on my hands and see the dirt on our clothes. They left about midnight.
We'll wash them all in Ferrara today, at least we can leave as normal now, even if we'll be carrying a bit of extra weight from all the water.
Now all we have to do is a 100km ride.
The first 50km were glorious, flat along the levee next to the Po river. We got stopped by the military who were shooting nearby, but they let us go after a minute. Lunch was a pretty little town called Carbonara de Po.
We met a lovely Dutch cyclist Called Roger who was riding from Germany to Rome, but he was way faster than us so he disappeared off into the distance.
The next 35km was lovely too, continuing along the levee, and then we turned off for a 15km ride along a poplar-lined cycle path into Ferrara.
We did 103km today, the longest ride yet! We'll be celebrating tonight.
