Kat & Mat's big bike trip
Day 24 Casale Monferrato
As you can imagine, it's impossible to plan a trip of this length. We've fallen into a pattern of planning five or six days at a time, then getting to that end point and planning the next section.
So the next block is five days from Turin to Ferrara, where we'll arrive on Friday. This is a fairly straight line east across northern Italy through Casale Monferrato, Pavia, Cremona and Mantua, all beautiful cities with rich histories. We're following the Eurovelo 8 cycle way for little parts, but largely making up our own route here.
It's super quiet on the road today with not a lot of towns or places to stop. At km 38, halfway along the ride, we pulled into a cafe hoping for a snack and a sit down, but it was closed. So we cheekily took a break in their courtyard and ate our own food. Naughty!
The second half of the ride was super flat, mainly through rice paddies. It wasn't particularly interesting, except to compare the rice fields here with home.
